Jeffrey Olin

President and CEO, Portfolio Manager

Jeffrey Olin is a co-founder, CEO and has been a portfolio manager at Vision since 2008. Mr. Olin brings ten years of direct corporate real estate experience and fifteen years of senior level investment banking experience to Vision Capital Corporation. Between 2003 and 2007, Mr. Olin served as the Managing Partner, Ontario and Head of Investment Banking with Desjardins Securities, a $200 billion financial institution. Mr. Olin was previously a Managing Director with HSBC Securities and a Vice President with Canaccord Capital. As an investment banker, Mr. Olin was the Lead Manager and M&A advisor with direct responsibility for over 70 transactions representing over $5 billion in value. He has served as a key advisor to many of Canada’s leading corporate, institutional, and family-owned real estate enterprises on their global real estate investments. Prior to his investment banking career, Mr. Olin has ten years of direct real estate industry experience. Between 1985 and 1991, Mr. Olin was Vice President with Bramalea Limited in Dallas, Texas and Toronto, Canada. In addition he worked with Olympia & York Developments Ltd., and the Parking Authority of Toronto. His experience in real estate includes acquisitions and dispositions, development, financing, leasing, operations, and planning and design. Mr. Olin has extensive corporate governance experience and expertise. He has served on the Board of Directors for numerous public companies as well as charitable and community boards. He has also acted as an expert witness on behalf of the Ontario Securities Commission and the Government of Canada Parliamentary Finance Committee. Mr. Olin is a graduate from the Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University in Chicago with an MBA. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.

Frank Mayer

Co-Founder and Portfolio Advisor

Frank Mayer is a co-founder and has been managing and advising the Vision Opportunity Funds since 2008. Previously, Mr. Mayer was a top-ranked Canadian real estate research analyst for 35 years, and recognized as such by leading independent surveys including Brendan Wood, Starmine and Greenwich. He has experience with both global and Canadian investment dealers including UBS and HSBC Securities.

Most recently, Mr. Mayer was Vice Chairman and a Senior Real Estate Analyst at Desjardins Securities Inc. His senior executive management experience has included roles as Head of Research, member of the Office of the President, Chairman and Vice Chairman. His track record includes identifying investment opportunities and themes at an early stage, often prior to other analysts and investors. Mr. Mayer graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Commerce, and from the University of Toronto with a MA in Economics.

Andrew Moffs

Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager

Andrew Moffs has been a portfolio manager with Vision since 2015. Mr. Moffs brings to Vision a unique depth of portfolio management experience in the global real estate securities sector, focused on public real estate securities in both the United States and Canada for over 20 years. Andrew joined Vision from SRE Securities Canada Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of Starwood Real Estate Securities, where he served as President and Portfolio Manager.

During his tenure at SRE with whom Andrew initially worked in Greenwich Connecticut, Andrew established the Canadian office for Starwood in Toronto and served as the Portfolio Manager for its long/short real estate hedge fund strategies. Earlier in his career, Andrew was a Portfolio Analyst in the real estate group of APG Investments US (formerly ABP Investments US) in New York, the asset manager for the Dutch civil service pension fund which manages more than $350 billion of capital including more than $15 billion in real estate securities.  Andrew began his career as an Analyst in the Global Real Estate & Lodging Group of Salomon Smith Barney in New York. Andrew received his B.A. in Economics from McGill University where he graduated with Great Distinction, and holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.

Vinh Truong, CPA, CA, CFA

Chief Operating Officer & Chief Compliance Officer

Vinh Truong joined the Vision team in early 2011 and has been Vision's Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer since 2013. Vinh oversees the ongoing business operations, compliance, financial reporting, tax, treasury, office facility and administration at Vision. Vinh has a breadth of experience, including a focus on real estate private equity investments, structuring and underwriting corporate credit, mergers and acquisitions, underwriting and placing equity and debt capital, and financial and tax structuring and reporting.

Prior to joining Vision, Vinh was Senior Vice President and CFO of Hexagon Capital Partners, a real estate advisory firm. Previously, he was Vice President at Fortress Investment Group LLC, a highly diversified global investment management firm.

Vinh received his Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree (with Distinction) from McMaster University and is a CPA, CA (Ontario) and is a CFA Charterholder.

Darren Kosack

Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Darren Kosack joined the Vision team in 2015. Prior to Vision, Darren was a Senior Vice President of Distribution at  Macquarie Global Investments based in Toronto. Darren brings over 20 years of senior level experience in Retail and Institutional Sales and service to Vision. Darren was a Senior Vice President of Sales at some of Canada’s leading investment management firms, including Macquarie, SEAMARK Asset Management, Excel Funds, Skylon Advisors (CI Investments) and First Asset Funds. Previously, Darren was a capital markets professional having worked at BMO Nesbitt Burns as a Fixed Income Trader and then as a Currency Trader where he was Manager and Director for Canadian Dollar trading. During this time Darren was based in Singapore and London U.K. Darren graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas  with a B.B.A in Economics and has completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Exempt Market Dealer Course.

Mark Murphy

Head of U.S. Marketing and Sales

Mark Murphy joined the Vision team in 2023. Mark has over 20 years of experience in financial services, including most recently in his role since 2007 as Managing Director and senior member of the Marketing and Business Development team at Contrarian Capital Management, LLC, a Greenwich Connecticut-based opportunistic credit and special situation investment manager. Mark has extensive experience in business development and marketing for alternative investment funds, equity and fixed-income capital markets, sales and trading, and production and sales management. Prior to Contrarian, Mark worked at Goldman Sachs & Co. as a senior member of the Institutional Equity Sales and Capital Introductions teams. Earlier roles on Wall Street include Assistant Trader on the Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) desk of CS First Boston and Institutional Equity Sales at Tucker Anthony. Mark began his career as a Management Consultant for Accenture (formerly Arthur Andersen & Co). Mark graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Charterholder.

Ben Rozyn

Vice President, Associate Portfolio Manager

Ben Rozyn relocated to Toronto and joined Vision in 2018, bringing more than 10 years of solid experience in New York where he focused on research and trading in real estate debt and securitized products.

His most recent role was at Credit Suisse when he joined in 2015 as a Vice President Sector Strategist covering Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) in the Fixed Income Trading department. Ben was responsible for developing investment strategies and analyzing commercial real estate properties, debt and transactions.

Prior to Credit Suisse between 2013 and 2015, Ben was a Vice President at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and part of the #1 ranked team for CMBS research in the Institutional Investor All-America Fixed Income Poll. Ben began his career within the Securitized Products debt group of Bank of America in 2008.

Ben graduated from Cornell University with a Master of Engineering in Financial Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research and Engineering.

Vivek Jain, M. Acc., CPA

Vice President, Finance

Vivek Jain joined the Vision team in 2021 bringing considerable financial, accounting and operational experience. Most recently, Vivek was an integral member of the Operations team at Sprucegrove Investment Management, an investment advisor to institutional clients in the specialized area of global equities with approximately $30 billion of assets under management. At Sprucegrove, Vivek spearheaded organizational objectives in various areas including Fund Accounting, Unitholder Recordkeeping, Capital Transactions (in-kind and cash) and Client Onboarding while serving as a primary operational contact for clients.

Previously, Vivek was a Team Lead at SGGG Fund Services Inc., a leading provider of accounting, technology and investor services to Canada's alternative and mutual funds industry. At SGGG, Vivek gained valuable experience in fund valuations, financial reporting, fund audits and unitholder recordkeeping while supporting a number of large and prominent offshore and onshore funds. Vivek actively participated in testing and recommending features as a super-user of their proprietary Fund Accounting and Unitholder Recordkeeping software, Diamond; the only information system to combine both aspects of Fund Administration. Vivek is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with CPA Ontario. He is also a CFA Level 3 candidate and holds a Master of Accounting (M. Acc.) degree along with a Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management degree, both received from the University of Waterloo.

Sherry Xie

Vice President, Operations

Sherry Xie joined the Vision team in 2019 after 5 years of experience with State Street Canada and CIBC Mellon. She was responsible for various operational functions and supported a number of large and prominent offshore and onshore funds. In these roles Sherry gained valuable experience working on fund audits, on-boarding and due diligence, key operational projects as well as tax and regulatory filings and requirements. She also actively collaborated with multiple parties internally and externally to understand and meet business requirements and ensure proper controls and procedures are in place to deliver quality services. Sherry is a graduate from the University of Western Ontario.

Cameron Salmers, CFA

Vice President and Senior Analyst

Cameron Salmers, CFA is a Vice President and Senior Analyst with Vision Capital Corporation. Cameron joined the Vision team in 2014. At Vision, Cameron focuses his time on fundamental research, technical research, and the management of internal models. Cameron also serves as a Director on the Board of Directors of the Oshawa Community Credit Union.

Cameron graduated with high distinction (Top 10%) from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto where he specialized in finance and is a member of the Dean’s List. Cameron is a CFA Charterholder and was awarded a CFA Institute Scholarship. Prior to Vision, Cameron worked as a Research Associate at the Rotman School of Management and Schulich School of Business. The research conducted in partnership with tenured Professors focused on the financing of social ventures, the growth strategies of entrepreneurial organizations, and the use of social media by entrepreneurial organizations. The research appeared in academic journals including the Journal of Business Venturing.

Stephen Neumann

Vice President and Senior Analyst

Stephen Neumann joined the Vision team in 2016. Stephen holds an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, graduating with distinction and Dean’s list ‘17. Stephen also achieved recognition for 1st place performance in the Investing Competition at the Ben Graham Centre for Value Investing: Ivey Chapter. At Vision Capital, Stephen dedicates his time to bottom-up research and technical analysis, and the management of investment models. Prior to Vision Capital, Stephen served as a financial analyst in the Smart Home Automation industry, and as a real estate consultant for developments in South-Western Ontario. Currently Stephen is pursuing his CFA level II.

Bassel Hammad, CFA

Senior Analyst

Bassel Hammad joined Vision in 2022 and brings over 8 years of real estate investment experience. Prior to joining Vision, Bassel worked in real estate private equity where he focused on due diligence, preparing financial models, underwriting investments, and structuring JV partnerships. His experience includes the acquisition of industrial, multifamily, and office real estate investments valued at over USD 560 million across the US and Europe.

Bassel holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Brett Farquharson

Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Brett Farquharson joined the Vision team in 2019. Brett is responsible for driving the sales strategy and supporting the distribution networks for Vision’s varied investor base. Brett brings 4 years of experience at CI Investments, garnering experience in a range of capacities including portfolio construction analytics, operations and sales. Brett holds an Honours Bachelor of Management & Organizational Studies from the University of Western Ontario, and has recently joined the CFA program.

Claire Hsieh

Director, Operations and Risk

Claire Hsieh joined Vision in 2021 and brings over 4 years of investment operations experience. Prior to joining Vision, Claire was a Manager of the Investment Operations team at Black Creek Investment Management, where she provided oversight on the trade operation process, fund accounting, proxy voting, cashflow and unitholder management. She has also worked on various operational and reporting projects. She has proven to be an effective liaison between different counterparties and is able to leverage her resources productively. Claire has always been passionate in process improvement, streamlining operational deficiencies, and establishing policies and procedures to mitigate operational risk. Claire holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree at McMaster University, specializes in Finance and Economics.

Blerina Krasnica

Manager, Sales and Marketing

Blerina Krasnica joined the Vision team in 2021 after 10 years of operations experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Vision she worked at State Street Corporation Canada, one of the world’s largest fund administrators as well as Assante Capital Management. Blerina has extensive experience in the valuation of fund portfolios in a continuous operations environment. She also brings to Vision extensive experience and responsibility for maintaining client relationships with clients across North America, Europe, South Asia as well as onboarding new fund investments. Blerina is a graduate from George Brown College.

Kudzayi Tamayi

Executive Assistant

Kudzayi Tamayi transitioned from the world of hospitality to join the Vision team in 2023 as an Executive Assistant to the President and C.E.O., Jeffrey Olin. She worked at Oliver and Bonacini Hospitality for 8 years in various key roles including Executive Assistant to the co-founders and Project Coordinator where she gained valuable expertise in administration and project management of opening new restaurants and renovation of operating locations. She has managed to transfer her skills set effortlessly to cater to Vision’s needs and requirements.

Kudzayi holds a Diploma in Hotel Management & Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Les Roches, Switzerland; Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management with a double major in Real Estate & Asset Management, from Kendall College - Chicago, IL, USA and Culinary Management Diploma from George Brown College. She is also a CAPM candidate and a member of the Project Management Institute (Toronto Chapter).

Gary Goodman

Advisory Board

Mr. Goodman is Trustee and Chair of the Audit & Risk committee of Boardwalk Real Estate Investment Trust a former Chairman of Huntingdon Capital Corp., trustee of Gazit America & Brightpath Early Learning, and member of the advisory boards of 2 large private real estate companies

Previously, Mr. Goodman was employed as the Executive Vice-President of Reichmann International where he served as senior executive and trusted advisor for Mr. Paul Reichmann and his affiliated companies and REITs for over 30 years.

Gary was actively involved as a senior financial executive in Mr. Reichmann’s Olympia & York Developments Ltd, acquisition and divestures of Canary Wharf, Central Park Lodges, Retirement Residences REIT and served as President and CEO of IPC U.S. REIT, a Canadian REIT which was focused exclusively on U.S. commercial properties.

Mr. Goodman is a (gold medalist) Chartered Accountant.

Richard Nesbitt

Advisory Board

Most recently, Mr. Nesbitt was President and CEO of the Global Risk Institute and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a chair of the advisory board of the Mind Brain Behavior Hive at University of Toronto.

Richard is based in London, United Kingdom where he is working with the London School of Economics on the creation of a new research institute called The Inclusion Initiative at LSE dedicated to improving diversity and inclusion within industry.

Previously, Mr. Nesbitt served a dual role as Chairman and CEO of CIBC World Markets Inc. as well as Chief Operating Officer of CIBC Bank. Prior to that, Mr. Nesbitt was the CEO of the TMX Group, the operator of all major Canadian trading exchanges including the Toronto Stock Exchange, Montreal Exchange and the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation. Between 1997 and 2000 he served as President and CEO of HSBC Securities.

The outstanding contribution that Richard has devoted to several community based and charitable organizations has been recognized by the receipt of prestigious awards and recognitions. This involvement includes his current and previous roles as Chair of the Finance Committee for the 2015 Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games; Board member of the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation; North American Advisory Board Member of the London School of Economics; Chair of the Financial Services Advisory Board at the Rotman School of Management; and Advisory Board Member of the Women in Capital Markets. In recognition of his community and professional dedication and accomplishments, in 2012 Richard was a recipient of a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal as well as an Arbor Award from the University of Toronto.

Ira Gluskin

Advisory Board

Currently, Mr. Gluskin is the Chief Investment Officer of Irager + Associates Inc., a family office, overseeing strategy and investments

Mr. Gluskin co-founded and served as Chief Investment Officer for Gluskin Sheff+ Associates Inc. (“Gluskin Sheff”) in 1984. Gluskin Sheff (listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange) is a leading Canadian independent wealth management firm that manages over $8+ billion for high net worth private clients and institutional investors. Prior to co-founding Gluskin Sheff, Mr. Gluskin worked in the investment industry for 20 years.

Before co-founding Gluskin Sheff, Mr. Gluskin was a highly ranked real estate securities analyst at a leading Canadian investment dealer. As such, Mr. Gluskin brings a unique and extremely relevant combination of skills and experience to contribute in a truly value-added capacity to Vision.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Tricon Capital Group and Trustees of First Capital REIT and European Residential Real Estate Investment Trust. Currently, he is a member of the University of Toronto’s Real Estate Advisory Committee. He is also on the University of Toronto’s Boundless Campaign Executive Committee, the Sinai Health System’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee, the Canadian Jewish News, The Walrus Magazine, Capitalize for Kids and the National Theatre School of Canada.

Mr. Gluskin is also the former Chair of the University of Toronto Asset Management Corporation and the former Chair of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto and is currently a member of its Investment Committee.

Mr. Gluskin received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.

Patricia Saputo

Advisory Board

Ms. Saputo is currently the Chief Financial Officer with Placements Italcan Inc., a privately-owned investment holding company and major shareholder of Saputo Inc.

Previously from 1991-1998, Ms. Saputo developed her expertise in accounting,  taxation, financial planning and estates with Samson Belair/Deloitte & Touche, one of the world's largest chartered accounting, management consulting and tax services firm. She also brings extensive corporate governance experience to Vision, including as a past Director and Audit Committee member of Saputo Inc.

Since 2005, Ms. Saputo has served in key leadership roles with Concordia University, including present roles with the Pension Plan for the Employees of Concordia University as the Chair of the pension plan and Chair of its sub-committee on review of investments and policy.

Since 2016, she has served as a member on the McGill University Health Care (MUHC) Foundation's board and is a member of the investment subcommittee and development subcommittee.

Ms. Saputo has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including a Certificate of Appreciation from the Concordia University Governing Board and the Chai Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ben Weider Educational Center-Chabad Seminary of Canada.

Ms. Saputo has earned numerous professional and governance accreditations including the Chartered Accountancy designation and Fellowship (FCA/FCPA), Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D), Trust and Estate Practitioner designation (TEP), and Institut Quebecoise de Planification Financiere - Financial Planner designation (FPl).

David Matlow

Advisory Board

Currently, Mr. Matlow serves as counsel at Goodmans LLP in Toronto, where he has practiced since 1987. His legal expertise includes corporate and securities law with a particular focus on private equity fund formation, secondary transactions, governance, and sports matters.

Mr. Matlow has served as a trusted advisor to several leading Canadian and international corporations including, Amdocs Limited, Vincor International, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

Mr. Matlow has played a key role as a member of the Working Group in drafting the Canadian Sports Governance Code. He currently serves as the Chair of the Ontario Jewish Archives and director of the iCenter for Israel Education.

Mr. Matlow has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Canada, receiving numerous accolades, including from The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Chambers Canada, Best Lawyers in Canada, The Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, The Lexpert Special Edition: Finance and M&A, Euromo.
